Expanding renewable energy horizons
In both the U.S. and abroad, Conergy companies are partnering on some of the most significant renewable energy projects ever ventured. In 2002, the Conergy Group built the largest solar power plant in the world at that time, a 4 MW installation in the Bavarian region of Germany. Following in 2004—2005, we implemented a 10 MW grid-connected rooftop installation for a Michelin manufacturing plant located in the Landau/Homburg region of Germany. It is still the world’s largest rooftop application and covers the annual electricity needs of approximately 2,400 households. We recently completed a 20 MW installation in South Korea that will become a principle energy resource in Asia.
During 2007 in the U.S., SunTechnics brought online a 2 MW ground mounted photovoltaic installation at the U.S. Army’s Fort Carson in Colorado plus 23 sites of a major grocery store chain. Our team constructed the soon to be operational Exelon power plant covering 16.5 acres at the waste management landfill site in Buck’s County, Pennsylvania. It will be the country’s biggest solar park east of Arizona. We also completed the preliminary design for a “brown-field” to “bright-field” project at the Philadelphia Navy Yard.
